In a technical and always changing environment, you are able to produce timely and high-quality reports. And you’re an expert in explaining all actuarial information and metrics to all stakeholders from various business units.

The salary for this position is between €5,583 and €7,975, depending on your knowledge and experience. This is based on a 36-hour work week, excluding a 13th month and vacation pay.

Your impact as a Reporting Actuary of the NN

In this quite diverse job, you work with several frameworks and metrics. You are able to see the whole picture by analysing pricing, modelling and Asset Liability Management factors. With everything you do, you help build meaningful reporting solutions, using modern technology, for the Actuarial (and broader NN Group) management and other (technical and non-technical) audiences. You get to deal with multiple reporting and data processing solutions. To build these solutions, you gather all wishes and requirements from all your stakeholders. The data engineers and operators from other departments and actuaries in NN business units are your partners to automate data sourcing and repeatable analytics. You have no problem to conduct data analyses and to summerise conclusions for actuarial and business management. 

Our Actuarial Reporting and Oversight team focuses on:

  • Solvency II analysis, mainly related to the SII balance sheet, including attribution of changes and operating capital generation
  • Support senior management and other key stakeholders for preparing external disclosures concerning solvency, capital generation and value creation
  • Value of New Business analysis, review and guidance regarding the profitability of products sold across Business Units
  • Review and guidance on material model and assumption changes
  • Advisory role on various projects. Review of business plans and financial forecasts for actuarial metrics.

Your responsibilities

  • You design, develop and implement meaningful and insightful actuarial reporting/dashboards to aid Actuarial Function with making data-driven decisions
  • You support with and/or directly own the production of several group actuarial reports
  • You serve as a subject matter expert and lead for data analytics and reporting working closely with colleagues in Actuarial, Finance and Risk departments
  • You create data management solutions (data sets, databases, workflows, dashboards) to support actuarial reporting; identify process gaps and design and implement solutions to improve processes

Your colleagues

You become part of our 8-person team, including a trainee. We are quite the international team with four different nationalities. We are all in our twenties and thirties with a good dose of professional skills.

Every Monday, we work at the office; the other days you decide yourself, because that depends on your cooperation with other colleagues within NN. We also have a lot of online contact, like various conferences. Collaboration is a great good within our team: we take on every task with two colleagues.

Every quarter we end with a dinner or a drink because our work-life balance is important as well.

Our Actuarial Reporting and Oversight team is part of the Chief Actuary Office of NN Group. As member of this team you will contribute to execution of the Actuarial Function within NN Group. The Actuarial Function is mainly responsible for the technical provisions of NN Group across the different balance sheets and related metrics.

  • An academic bachelor's/master’s degree in Econometrics, Actuarial Science, or other quantitative degree
  • 3-5 years’ experience with business intelligence, data analytics data visualization, within the actuarial finance and/or risk domain, preferably in an insurance/insuretech environment
  • Experience in Solvency II valuation and reporting is preferred. Actuarial qualification is a strong pre-requisite.
  • Hands-on experience with Excel and PowerBI; other data manipulation tools are a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to simplify complex concepts for varying levels of audiences; proven good project management skills are a plus
