As a Master Thesis Topic Agentic AI for Finance at NN Group, you design and test a modular agentic AI pipeline for financial regulatory documents: profiling, retrieval, drafting, compliance validation, source transparency, uncertainty estimation, and expert feedback integration.

Financial institutions must produce a wide range of regulatory documents, from risk assessments and financial reports to compliance policies, all requiring deep domain expertise and strict adherence to evolving regulations. Manual processes are often slow, error‑prone, and expensive, while traditional automation tools rely on inflexible templates that struggle to keep pace with change. This project explores an agentic AI framework in which autonomous agents can reason, plan, and adapt to new regulatory demands. The aim is to design a modular pipeline that handles document profiling, content retrieval, draft generation, compliance validation, and integration of expert feedback, resulting in a prototype that enhances accuracy, transparency, and efficiency while ensuring traceable sources and clear explanations for every output.

What you are going to do

In this role, you will work on developing and evaluating an agentic AI framework aimed at improving the generation of regulatory documents in the financial and risk domains. Your tasks will cover the full process from system design to prototype testing, ensuring compliance, transparency, and adaptability to evolving regulations.

  • Design and implement a modular agentic AI-pipeline for regulatory document generation in financial and risk domains
  • Integrate language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and agentic planning to optimize accuracy, compliance, and explainability
  • Develop mechanisms for compliance validation, uncertainty estimation, and transparent documentation of sources
  • Evaluate the prototype’s performance against regulatory standards and document types, using real-world datasets
  • Produce a thesis manuscript, annotated datasets, and deployment recommendations based on empirical results

What we offer you

It is important to us that you continue to develop yourself. We give you the space and the confidence to grow in your career as well as a person. We help you with:

  • Internship fee of €650 gross based on a 36-hour working week
  • Plenty of training and learning opportunities in our Learning & Development Centre
  • A large (international) network of colleagues who are keen to share their knowledge with you
  • The autonomy to set out your own development path

Who you are

You have a strong passion for solving complex analytical challenges and applying AI technologies to improve processes in the financial and risk domains. You work in a structured way, think critically, and pay close attention to regulatory requirements and technical specifications. In addition, you bring:

  • A degree or specialization in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Econometrics, or a related field
  • Hands‑on experience with Python
  • Solid knowledge of statistics, machine learning, natural language processing, and AI agent frameworks (e.g., autonomous agents, multi‑agent systems)
  • The ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, well‑structured documentation and actionable solutions
  • Self‑motivation and independence in planning and conducting research

Who you will work with

You will be part of the Data & AI team within the CIO department, a growing group of specialists who share a passion for creating impactful data and AI solutions. Our team offers plenty of room for learning and personal development. In this project, you will collaborate closely with colleagues from IT, business, and support departments to design and deliver AI-driven solutions for regulatory document generation.

Your employer will be NN Group, an organization that offers a wide range of opportunities. You will work within the Life & Pensions business unit, focusing on innovation in compliance and risk management processes.
